Judy (Balch) O’Leary was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia and grew up in Moncton, New Brunswick. Judy attended Dalhousie University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is where she has lived for the past 40 years. Judy and her husband recently retired from career’s at the provincial electrical utility, and moved from Bedford to the New Ross area to live their dream on a lake.
After a twenty-eight-year career in the corporate world, Judy’s passion has been enjoying her new home on the lake in the place where she and her husband have had a cottage for the past seventeen years. Their new Christmas tradition includes cutting their own fresh Christmas tree at one of the many tree farms in the area.
In her spare time, Judy volunteers in her local community and is an active member of the New Ross Regional Development Society, Chair of the New Ross Christmas Festival, and a volunteer with the New Ross Historical Society.
Judy loves figure skating, dislikes chasing geese off her lawn, is a self-taught crocheter and knitter, enjoys reading and participating in the local book club, and, in the summer, can be found sitting in her favorite lime-green Adirondack chair by the lake, reading a delightful book.
